ASHFORD, Ala. (WTVY) -- The mural in McArthur Park now displays a freshly painted recreation of a picture taken in 1906 of a train that stopped at Ashford’s historic depot.
Some Ashford businesses donated money and others donated supplies to make the mural possible.
But the hard work came from a group of high school students.
To escape the heat, they painted it early in the morning for a month.
It's all to make the city more attractive to visitors and to recruit businesses.
"The city is being to update some. They have new sidewalks just recently put in. Some of the stores are being to do facelifts," says Charles Sims the artist who sketched the recreation.
If you're itching to see the mural for yourself, on July 18th at 6:30 p.m, would be a great time.
The mural will be dedicated in a special ceremony at Mcarthur Park.
