DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — The Alzheimer’s Resource Center raised more than $90,000 at this years walk. The numbers were announced at a luncheon at Flowers Hospital on Thursday to honor all the sponsors who helped make their goal possible.

The 25th annual Alzheimer’s "A Walk to Remember" raised nearly $85,000 plus more than $5,000 in pledges.

Elaine Brackin is chairwoman for the walk, she says the best defense a family member has as a care giver, is knowledge. That is where the money they raise goes toward, to educate families in the area who are faced with the illness.

"Every dime that's raised goes directly to families in the Wiregrass area,” said Brackin. “The community can rest assure their money is going to a great cause.”

Next year’s walk is scheduled for October 6th, 2018.
