Adult day cares merge
Five years ago Ronella Lamb moved to Enterprise to live with her nephew and his wife after losing her mom.
"I was staying with them he said 'nah you aint gone stay here you have to get out and meet folks'," Lamb a Wiregrass Rehab Center adult daycare attendant says.
That's when she became a loyal part of the adult day care community.
Now, going to the center is her favorite part of the day.
"Oh lord I have made so many friends I can't name them all," Lamb says.
Now she is able to make even more friends.
"We grew out of our older facility. We had two different facilities one in Elba… one in Enterprise, and due to growth issues we had to find somewhere new,” says Stephanie Smith the daycare coordinator.
Part of the old Coppinville Junior High School is now the new home for the merged daycares.
Even with the change, their mission remains the same.
"For most of our clients their everyday lives is getting up and going to the daycare, so what we provide for them is the core of who they are as far as socially," says Misty Dean the daycare manager.
Along with two meals and a snack, the daycare provides exercise, devotion, and activities.
For family members it means…
"That lets them know that my loved one can have a quality of life while I can still function. I can still pay bills I can still take care of what I have to do," says Dean.
The Enterprise location serves residents from Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, and Geneva counties, and most get there by bus.
The daycare always has a need for volunteers to help with anything from driving buses to assisting with arts and crafts.
