ASHFORD, AL. (WTVY) - In about 6-months, the City of Ashford will have a new clinic that will help students attending the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine get hands-on experience while providing residents with healthcare.
The initiative will potentially bring new jobs to the area.
The clinic is expected to offer basic medical care and will be staffed by physicians and nurse practitioners, along with ACOM students.
With the opening of the Ashford location, the clinic will be considered an extension of ACOM.
Craig J. Lenz, Sr., DO, Dean, Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, says "We wanted to add to our training program by allowing our students the opportunity to be able to see patients in their live-setting, real patients, in their first and second year."
The new clinic is expected to open by October 1st.
