DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- People in Dothan now have a new walking and biking trail.
The ACOM Trail connects Ross Clark Circle to the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.
It's especially useful for students at the college because it leads to businesses and restaurants on the circle.
The project is part of a greater health and wellness plan to eventually connect downtown Dothan and the east side of the circle.
"It's a trail way off the highway. It's safe from anyone having a distracted driver hit them if they were either walking or biking off the highway," said ACOM Senior Vice President Craig Lenz.
The trail is just shy of a mile long and has taken about three years to complete.
It's been funded by the city and the Alabama Department of Transportation.
