84-year-old Alabama father charged with daughter's murder
A Choctaw County man was arrested for fatally shooting his daughter with a shotgun, according to court documents.
Choctaw County Sheriff's Office said deputies received a report that 84-year-old Evan Lamor Todd shot his daughter on Tuesday morning in a home at 3805 Land Road in Butler. According to complaint filed in Choctaw County District Court, a housekeeper arrived at the residence around 8:30 a.m. and noticed that the door was not completely shut. When she went inside, court documents said Todd came out of a bedroom and he told the housekeeper that he shot his daughter dead on Monday night. The housekeeper said she called the daughter several times, but did not get an answer.
The housekeeper then went inside the room the daughter was staying in and found the victim motionless in a bed covered with a red blanket, according to court documents. The housekeeper ran away from the home, knocked on a neighbor's door and told the neighbor what she encountered. The neighbor then called 911.
When deputies arrived at the home, Todd was sitting on the couch and he told law enforcement that his daughter was in her room. Medics were unable to get any signs of life and the daughter was pronounced dead.
Todd was taken into custody and charged with murder. He was placed into Choctaw County Jail on a $85,000 bond.
