Free meals for Washington County students

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Parents in Washington County no longer need to worry about their child's lunch money--at least for a little while.

The school district originally didn't qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision, which allows for free meals for schools.

After Hurricane Michael, the number of displaced students went up, qualifying the district for the program.

Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students until the end of this school year.

As long as there are no conflicts with other programs, the free meals will last for another three years.
