UPDATE: 10:20 pm
Here's the Wednesday evening update from the National Hurricane Center on the developing tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico. A tropical depression is expected to form soon, with the system later to become a named storm in Barry. The official forecast calls for a hurricane, before making landfall in South Louisiana midday Saturday. Storm surge will be a big threat across South and Southeast Louisiana, along with inland flooding due to expected heavy rainfall. Strong winds will also be a big threat.
For the Wiregrass, we're still looking at fringe impacts, mainly from scattered showers and thunderstorms moving through Thursday and Friday afternoons. -David Paul, Chief Meteorologist
