UPDATE: Bond set at $500K for 15 year old accused of murdering sister
Bond has been set at $500,000 for Fredrick Matthew Lochridge, the teenager accused of shooting and killing his sister last weekend in Fountain.
Lochridge,15, has been waived up to adult status. That clears the way for a grand jury to potential indict him on a first degree murder charge. He's being held on a 2nd degree murder charge right now because, as a juvenile, that's the maximum he could face.
Lochridge is accused of shooting and killing his 10-year-old sister Izzabella Heffernan on February 21st.
When questioned about his sister's death, investigators say Lochridge was openly defiant. Deputies say Lochridge admitted to shooting his sister, but gave differing accounts of why it happened.
"He was a hard core kid. He lied. He was deceitful. He screamed. He cursed. He was like interviewing a 30-year-old murderer when we talked to him," said Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen.
Heffernan was a student at Waller Elementary, where she was known by "Izzy." Her funeral is set for Monday, February 29th.
A 16-year-old has been arrested in the death of his 10-year-old sister.
Police say Fredrick Lochridge killed his sister, Isabella Herrernan.
She was reported missing from her home in Fountain, Florida, on Saturday. That's in Bay County northeast of Panama City.
Isabella's body was found in a field behind her home on Sunday.
Lochridge was arrested and charged with an open count of murder.
