12 years ago was when Hurricane Wilma broke the record for the most intense storm by air pressure in the Atlantic going all the way down to 882 millbars.

At its peak, the storm produced destructive 185 mile per hour winds.

In Florida, Cuba, and Mexico, it was responsible for several dozen deaths, and is one of the most costly Atlantic hurricanes as well--causing nearly $30 billion in damage.
