Russell Jones is thrilled to be back in his hometown of Birmingham. Russell graduated from Hoover High School and earned his broadcasting degree from the University of Alabama.
Russell is a reporter weekdays on Good Day Alabama and anchors weekend mornings.
Prior to joining the WBRC FOX6 News team, Russell was a former morning reporter/fill-in anchor for KOCO 5 News in Oklahoma City. During the wee morning hours, Oklahomans watched Russell on-site at breaking news across the metro area. Later in the morning, Russell delighted audiences with his friendly, lighthearted in-studio and on-location interviews.
Russell was a former reporter in Panama City, Florida for WMBB. During his time in Florida, Russell was also a fill-in weekend anchor and producer and enjoyed telling stories and building relationships with his viewers.
Russell is a fan of all sports, but he's a huge college football fan. You might be surprised to find out whom he roots for. Just ask him! Russell met his wife while performing Shakespeare in Homewood Park. They have a 10-year-old son who was also born in Birmingham and a 120-lb. lap dog named Ghost.
