Jacob Murphey anchors the Weekend edition of Eyewitness News at 6 and 11. He's also out in the community, covering stories several days a week.
Jacob is a native of Marietta, Georgia. He's thrilled to be back in the Southeast after a three-year stay in Minnesota, where he anchored weekday morning newscasts for KTTC-TV in Rochester.
Before that, he worked as a reporter for WCAV-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Jacob graduated from Northwestern University in June 2016, earning a double major in journalism and history. He's kept that love of history alive through his reporting. He covered early efforts to topple a Robert E. Lee Statue, before it made national headlines.
He thinks everyone has a key that can unlock a compelling story. It's his job to seek those out.
In his free time, Jacob loves to hike, play tennis, or find a great read (especially historic biographies!). He's also no stranger to public service. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a reading mentor and food shelf volunteer through his past work as a member of the Greater Rochester Rotary Club.
