Born and raised in northern Virginia, Gretchen first knew she wanted to become a broadcast journalist when she did her elementary school’s morning news show in sixth grade. From there, she graduated from Centreville High School in 2015 and went on to attend Virginia Tech.

As a Hokie, Gretchen majored in Multimedia Journalism and double minored in Creative Writing and Popular Culture. During her time in Blacksburg, Gretchen was a news anchor, producer, and general manager of Virginia Tech Television, a lifestyle staff writer for the Collegiate Times, and a sister of Kappa Alpha Theta. At the end of her junior year, she became the inaugural recipient of the Kathryn Thompson Leckie Memorial Scholarship for excellence in journalism. In addition, Gretchen interned for Good Morning Washington on ABC7, where she got a real taste of the television world. Her second semester of senior year, she worked part-time as an associate producer for WDBJ7 in Roanoke.

Gretchen is looking forward to living at the beach, as her hometown is right outside of Washington D.C. When she’s not in the newsroom — she’s working out, eating sushi, or watching Law and Order: SVU. Feel free to reach out to her via Facebook or Twitter.
