‘Drag Me to Hell’ actress Lorna Raver dies at age 81
(Gray News) - Veteran actress Lorna Raver, known for her role in “Drag Me to Hell,” has died.
Raver died on May 12 at the age of 81, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Her death was revealed in the “In Memoriam” section of the SAG-AFTRA’s Summer 2025 magazine.
In Sam Raimi’s “Drag Me to Hell,” Raver played the role of Mrs. Sylvia Ganush, the elderly woman who curses Allison Lohman’s character Christine Brown and sets in motion the events of the horror film.

Raver first began acting at the Hedgerow Theater outside of Philadelphia, according to the Hollywood Reporter. She later moved to New York and performed in several plays, including two off-Broadway debuts: Robin Swicord’s “Last Days of the Dixie Girl Café” and Matt Williams’ “Between Daylight and Boonville.”
Raver first appeared on screen in the 1990 film “Opportunity Knocks,” in which she played the secretary of Dana Carvey’s character.
Raver also appeared several times in “The Young and the Restless,” as well as several other television series such as “ER,” “Beverly Hills,” “Gilmore Girls” and “Desperate Housewives.”
Along with her acting accolades, Raver has received several Earphones Awards for her audiobook work, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
