CNN commentator whose career began in Dothan dies
(WTVY) - The political world mourns the loss of CNN commentator and political strategist Alice Stewart, whose illustrious career began in Dothan. She was 58.
Authorities found Stewart outside her Virginia home, with the cause of death believed to be a medical attack.
“Alice was wonderful and talented and a dear friend. And she loved America fiercely,” said U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, for whom Stewart worked as communications during his presidential campaign.
She also significantly impacted the political landscape, working for Mike Huckabee when he served as Arkansas governor and during his runs for president in 2008 and 2012.
Stewart began as a general assignment reporter in 1989 at WDHN in Dothan and then moved to Arkansas.
She last appeared on The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer on Friday.
