DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Two Walton County men are accused of sexually abusing children left in their care.

Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies say the men were charged in two separate cases.

They say Ian Smith, 19, is charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a child. Investigators say a family member of the victim discovered journal entries about the abuse and reported it. Investigators say the abuse spanned several months.

In a different case, Jacob Ramirez, 32, is facing capital charges after investigators say he molested three victims between the ages of 7 and 12-years-old. He is charged with three felony counts of sexual battery on a person less than 12-years-old.

“This is part of our relentless pursuit of charging sexual predators who prey on children and getting them out of our community and behind bars,” Sheriff Michael Adkinson said.

Bond for both men was set at $1 million, according to deputies.
