DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - There is an urgent need for blood donors to donate, especially for O negative blood.

To help fill the need Southeast Health is partnering with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host an emergency blood drive.

On Thursday, May 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. two LifeSouth units will be located on the Southeast Health campus.

One will be on 84 East at the West Parking Garage and the other will be on Fairview Avenue near the Wound Care building.

Lydia Kirkland, director of laboratory services, said the number of blood donations were greatly impacted by COVID-19 when drives had to be cancelled, but now they have hope.

“Southeast Health is the only level two trauma center in the area and so we certainly rely on the donations of our community members to be able to care for our community and we encourage everyone to invite your family, your friends, your coworkers to come out and donate and these donations do stay local,” Kirkland said.

The facility will also host a blood drive at the same time and place next Wednesday, June 2.

All donors will receive a free $10 e-gift card.
