REHOBETH, Ala. (WTVY) - What a day it was for Rehobeth’s Joe Watkins. The senior baseball standout signed to continue his career at Lawson State.

Watkins had a stellar senior year for the Rebels batting nearly .500 with 30 RBI.

It was a season that almost didn’t happen as Watkins suffered an injury to his arm back in August that nearly ended his senior campaign before it happened.

But now with a chance to play at the next level, Watkins is thrilled to become a Cougar.

“I just like the Birmingham area a lot,” said Watkins. “I went up there and visited. I met the coaches. I really like what they said they’d teach. I think I’ll bring leadership when I can. I think I’ll bring a pretty good ball player up there.”
