On the dotted line: Ashford’s John Luke Lasseter signs with Sewanee
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - A big day for Ashford’s John Luke Lasseter. The senior signed to continue his football career at Sewanee in Tennessee.
The 6′4″ senior played all over the field last season for the Yellow Jackets, but was thrust into the quarterback role midway through the season and handled those duties well, rushing for over 200 yards and three touchdowns in his final high school game.
Lasseter had other school interested in his talents, but after visiting with the Tigers, he said it gave him that hometown vibe.
“It’s really kind of like Ashford. It’s a small-town feel and everybody really knows each other and it’s all right there together,” said Lasseter. “It feels like I am at home really. As soon as you walked on campus it was really surreal because it was a beautiful campus and everything was outstanding. After we sat down and talked to each other, we had to make a decision and it just felt like that was the best.”
