CAC kicks off #FlockOutChildAbuse campaign
The Southeast Child Advocacy Center will “flock” peoples yards throughout the month of April
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Throughout the month of April people around the Wiregrass will wake up to a yard filled with blue flamingos, but this campaign is more than about bringing fun.
The flock out child abuse fundraiser strives to put awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention month at the forefront.
“Like most nonprofits, we’ve been challenged to come up with alternative fundraisers,” Lindsey Wagner, community advocate, said. “We thought this would be a good way to spread awareness about the work that we do and the blue ribbon campaign, but also a fun way to let someone know you’re thinking about them or give them a good laugh.”
With the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center serving 749 clients last year, the Wiregrass Wealth Management decided to sponsor this years event.
“You can do it for birthdays, special occasions, just to get the campaign rolling, they’d certainly appreciate the support, and I think it’s a fun way to raise awareness about the center and raise some money,” Adam Thomas, certified financial planner, said.
A minimum donation of 50 dollars will earn one flock. Donations to the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center are tax deductible.
This will take place between now and the month of April.
