LEVEL PLAINS, Ala. (WTVY) --

The Level Plains Police Department is urging city council to act on local ordinances.

Noise and cleaning ordinances for Level Plains are dated.

The noise ordinance has not been updated since 2001.

Updating that noise ordinance would move quiet hours from 11 p.m. To 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

It would cut down on police calls late at night as well as provide a more peaceful atmosphere for residents.

Level Plains officials also want to put a focus on cleaning up their city.

“We’re trying to catch up with the times and do things that make Level Plains a friendlier place to live and also on the police side me and my crew we are going to police people how we want to be policed,” Level Plains Police Chief Johnny Summers Jr. said.

The council will look over the ordinances at their next meeting on February 16th.

The city will be cleaning up around the city on March 20th and 21st.
