DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Some Henry County children now have access to better technology at the Abbeville Boys and Girls Club.

The Club was a recent recipient of the Alabama Power Elevate Grant. The grant money was used to purchase twenty brand new Chrome laptops, with mice, and an ink jet printer.

Director Neandra Turner tells WTVY that the technology will help the students do homework, study, and get needed tutoring.

She also says it will also be beneficial if students are moved to virtual schooling because of the ongoing COVID pandemic.

“God-willing that won’t happen, but if we happen to have to go virtual, we have that computer lab. And we have those tools for those kids to be on the computer most of the time of the day, and we have the printer to print out their worksheets and copy things and stuff like that. So we have access to that,” Turner said.

The Abbeville non-profit received $9,550 total from the Elevate Grant.
