Gardening and astronomy highlight upcoming Landmark Park events

Visitors can learn about gardening and the stars over the next few weeks.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Warmer air is beginning to return to the Wiregrass, and so are events at Landmark Park. The park will be hosting a couple of events over the next couple of weeks that will be sure to interest a wide variety of people across the region.

Visitors to the park from 1 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, January 30 can participate in the Seed Swap and Gardening Expo. Gardeners can trade seeds at the Activity Barn. Other events during the day include demonstrations on various topics related to gardening and the outdoors. Some of those include composting, backyard chickens, beekeeping, and gardening for beginners. Whether you are an expert gardener or someone that’s looking to start gardening for the first time, there will be plenty of information to take in.

The event is free with paid park admission. Admission to the park is free for park members, $4 for adults, and $3 for children.

Then on Friday, February 12, visitors will have a chance to view the park after dark while learning about stars, planets, and constellations. during Astrology Night. The event will run from 6 PM to 9 PM and will feature all kinds of space-related activities, including crafts, wagon ride sky tours, and looking through telescopes at various stars, planets, and constellations. The planetarium will not be available due to COVID precautions.

Admission to this event is $5 for park members, $6 for Boy Scouts and other scouts members, and $8 for non-park members.
