ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) --

Coffee County nonprofits have been awarded an $11,000 grant.

The funds come from FEMA for emergency food and shelter programs and its total is determined by the previous year’s unemployment rate.

Nonprofits have certain criteria to meet to be eligible including currently providing food and shelter programs.

Enterprise Christian Mission and Coffee County Family Services received the grant last year and many previous years.

“A whole life can change overnight basically and that’s what’s happened to a lot of people in our community and receiving this grant will also be able to help a lot of these individuals,” Wiregrass United Way Area Manager for Coffee and Geneva County Mindy Collier said.
