DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Music filled the sanctuary at First Baptist Church in Dothan Thursday evening.
The church held its “Keyboards at Christmas” piano concert.
The free event featured several classical and traditional holiday songs, played on grand pianos. The five pianists were all members of the church.
Members also provided meals for the homeless and others in need of a little positivity, prior to the holiday concert.
“We had this idea, ‘why don’t we invite folks who are homeless and disadvantaged to come to the church,” Bob Gross, minister of senior adults and missions, said. “And we’d feed a Christmas dinner to them and then invite them to come upstairs for the five piano concert, which will be beautiful.’ So we worked with the Harbor, Love in Action, and the Arc. They helped line up with people to come and eat. So we wanted to feed them a Christmas dinner to show them the love of Christ, the love of God, so that they could experience the true meaning of Christmas.”
The church will have another piano Christmas concert Sunday, December 6th at 6 p.m. with limited registration.
