Police: Teen abused baby on Halloween
Investigators say they learned of injuries after child received medical treatment.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -A Dothan woman has been charged with abusing a baby in her care on Halloween. Police arrested 19-year old Mariya Stoddart on Monday.
“The child’s mother left the baby in the care of (Stoddart) and our investigation revealed that’s when the injuries occurred,” Dothan Police Lieutenant Scott Owens told WTVY.
As that child was treated for those injuries at a local hospital, medical workers notified police.
Owens said officers, after a thorough investigation, concluded the child had been pushed into a bed railing, slapped, and grabbed around the neck.
Stoddart posted bond and was released from jail.
