Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver identified

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) A man faces charges following a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian Friday night in Dothan.

Killed was 56-year old Patrick Shaffer of Dothan as he attempted to cross Montgomery Highway near Wiregrass Common Mall, Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd told WTVY.

Police located the vehicle in a nearby parking lot and took its suspected driver into custody. 18-year old Rashaun Richardson, Jr. is charged with Murder and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Investigators have not released additional information about the incident.
