Inaugural Dothan Peanut Strut winners announced
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Dothan Leisure Services announced several family-friendly events this fall. One of those events was the inaugural Dothan Peanut Strut. The winners were announced Tuesday, November 10th:
Residents and businesses were encouraged to create a 3-foot tall peanut made up of any material and decorate it. Judges then came by on Saturday, November 7th to choose their favorites, based on creativity, uniqueness and originality.
Debra Wagner was the resident’s winner. Mid-South Bank won first place in the business category. The After-School Playground Program at Wiregrass Park is the Dothan Leisure Services division winner.
There was also a fan favorite award which went to goes to DLS Aquatics.

Program Coordinator Stephanie Wingfield said overall, 17 participants took part in the event.
“It’s an opportunity for the community to come together in times like this to get out and do something fun, that was safe,” Wingfield said. "Coming up to the holiday season, we need that connection so it was a way for the community to connect with each other.”
Wingfield says DLS is expecting next year’s Dothan Peanut Strut to be even bigger.
