DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -

There may be less students in Dothan Prepatory Academy starting next school year.

Dothan City Schools is discussing possibly moving all 9th grade students to another campus.

If the move is approved it would allow DPA to resolve concerns of overcrowding. 9th graders will possibly make the move from DPA to the current carver campus and students at Carver will be moved to the former Cloverdale Elementary campus.

Along with the move, DCS is looking into another plan. Creating a DCS Virtual School, adding a physical location for virtual teachers and the testing of virtual students. If approved, the DCS Virtual School will be housed in the DPA elective building.

The proposed changes are raised by issues parents had or concerns DCS has heard. DCS has used different tools such as surveys and parent committee meetings to gain information and feedback.

The Dothan City School Board will have a work session this Thursday, 12th November at 5:30pm to review these plans.
