DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - 2020 cancelled many traditional graduation ceremonies, however the graduates of Fortis College received the recognition they deserved today.

A socially distanced graduation was held outside. The ceremony was spread out between the graduating class of about 100. About 10 to 15 graduates were invited every hour from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to receive their diploma from the campus president, have their picture made and celebrate with their families.

Campus President Roger Rocha said many of the graduates already have jobs and today the focus was on them.

“I think it’s lifting everyone’s spirits because we’re able to continue to do something that’s normal," Rocha said. "Even though its done in a different way, it feels normal and it helps us again focus on the student and celebrate them”
