HEADLAND, Ala. (WTVY) - The votes are in and Henry County has spoken. Lori Parker Beasley has been chosen as the next Henry County Superintendent.

Beasley will take over for Chris Padgett, who chose not to seek reelection.

She’s a twenty-year educator, and has spent many years in the Henry County school system. Beasley said she plans to go in and reassess every aspect of the current system and wants to focus on improvements.

WTVY’s Justin Walker caught up with Beasley at her watch party shortly after the result.

“I’m just overwhelmed and humbled by the support of Henry County,” Beasley said. "And I just want to say thank you to everyone that came out and voted. Whether you voted for me or not, I just want to say thank you because your voice was heard today.”

Beasley won the seat over challengers Darius McKay and Dr. Dennis Brand.
