DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - The city of Dothan began a new Halloween tradition two years ago where they hosted a city wide event at Westgate Park that was attended by thousands. But COVID-19 forced a change of plans this year and the city is hosting a drive-thru trunk or treat event.

Cars started lining up around 4:00 p.m. and continuously moved through when the event began at 5:00 p.m. The event lasts until 8:00 p.m.

Dothan Leisure Services decided this would be a great alternative to their annual event due to covid concerns.

A specific plan was created to keep traffic flowing and prevent congestion. As a result, Tate Drive is closed.

There will no access to stadium drive through neighborhood streets either. Entry is from the south side of the stadium on stadium drive off of south park avenue. Cars will exit on north stadium drive onto selma street.

We caught up with some of the trick or treaters to see how they are enjoying the experiance.
