DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - A long anticipated project in Daleville is now complete. The Boys and Girls Club has opened their doors for an open house for the community today.

"I really feel like we have something special down here in Daleville that’s going to last a long time,” Jonathan Benjamin, site director, said.

A 15 month long journey, now complete. The community coming together to renovate an entire building.

“It’s been a community project," Joel Adams, Board President of the Boys and Girls Club of Daleville, said. "Everyone’s been involved, everybody has had something to do with this, the city, the school board, everybody, the rec department. It’s been a true community effort.”

Providing opportunity, positivity and making a difference in children’s lives, the Boys and Girls Club of Daleville is officially open.

“The parents will be very surprised just how much their kids will grow, learn and achieve just by coming to the boys and girls club,” Benjamin said.

Now a safe place for children to go and build friendships.

"Its important for us to be able to provide them with a safe structured environment for them to learn and have fun learning,” Adams said.

Goals are already being set for this nonprofit.

"Get a start and build a foundation for the community and so that years from now the kids can come back and they can say this is where it all began for us, this is where it all started for us,” Benjamin said.

Adams said this program does not come without a price and the organization is seeking donations to continue their efforts. To make a donation call (334)790-4600 or go to their website here.

"The sky is the limit here,” Adams said.

Children were able to use the new building for the first time this afternoon.
