OZARK, Ala. (WTVY) - The Beacon of Hope in Ozark is planning a special needs trunk-or-treat for Saturday, October 24th.

The center is looking for anyone who would be interested in decorating their trunk and helping out.

The community-wide event will feature a costume contest and safe alternative Halloween treats. West Reynolds Street will be blocked off to keep everyone safe.

“I work with children with autism, but there’s lots of other special needs out and differences out there that sometimes, going door to door wouldn’t be possible,” Shelby DiPilla, owner of Beacon of Hope, said. "We’re all going to be wearing our masks and things like that, but we’re just trying to have a safe event for specifically the special needs community.”

If you’re interested in decorating your truck, you can email DiPilla at beaconofhopeaba@gmail.com so that she can know ahead of time how many to expect.
