Elk Lodge 1887 holds inaugural Burgers, Blues, and Brews Festival Saturday
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - If you like burgers, beer and good music, Elk Lodge 1887 was the place to be Saturday.
The organization held its inaugural "Burgers, Blues, and Brews Festival. The event featured a grill-out, ice cold beverages, and blues music bands.
The lodge used the event to raise money for charities, like Camp ASCCA, drug abuse programs, and scholarships. It was also used to recruit new members as well.
“We feel that this will be an annual event," said Thomas Strickland, exalted ruler of the Dothan Elk Lodge. "It’ll be something that we’ll put on each year and it’ll probably grow. We have a large lodge that’s growing, and we have about 800 members and a lot of younger members who want to have a good time in a reasonable, in a very safe environment.”
To become a member, Strickland says you must be sponsored by a present member, be at least 21 years of age, have a good background, believe in God, and defend the Constitution.
