OPP, Ala. (WTVY) - The 6-1 Slocomb Red Tops travel to Bobcat country for a showdown with 7-1 Opp. Both teams undefeated in Class 3A Region 2.

The Bobcats can clinch the region title for the first time 2016 with a win over Red Tops, while Slocomb needs wins over Opp and Wicksburg next week to be called region champs for the first time since 2003.

Both coaches know the importance of Friday’s game.

“Last week we had to play the number one defense and this week we play the number one offense,” said Opp head coach Brent Hill. “It hasn’t been an easy two weeks, but we know what’s ahead and we know in our situation, if we win, we’re the number one seed.”

“It’s huge looking down the road for playoff implications,” said Slocomb head coach Richard Tisdale. “I’d rather play at home, I’d rather host, I’d rather play a three or four seed than a one or two seed from the other region. It’s a big game and we want to welcome that and embrace it and have a great time doing it.”
