OZARK, Ala. (WTVY) -A former Ozark lab owner has pleaded guilty to charges she falsified samples and that could have cost some parents to lose custody of their children. Dale County judge William Fillmore sentenced 38-year old Brandy Murrah, also known as Brandy Williams, to 15 years in prison after she admitted 17 charges on Tuesday.

She altered lab results performed for the Alabama Department of Human Resources. Some people tested for that state agency claim her forged paperwork showed they had illegally used methamphetamine when they had not and. Because of that, they lost custody of their children. At least two lawsuits have been filed against Murrah and her now defunct business, A and J Lab Collections. Police did not release a suspected motive.

Murrah is hoping Circuit Judge William Filmore will give her an alternative sentence instead of making her serve the 15 years behind bars. Those alternativesinclude probation or a split sentence that would send Murrah to prison for a portion of her sentence and allow her to serve the remainder on probation. She could also be placed in a work release program.

A hearing on that matter is scheduled November 12.
