HEADLAND, Ala. (WTVY) -Geneva High School Principal Kary Roberts faces drug and other charges following a holiday weekend traffic stop.

A Headland police officer pulled over Roberts vehicle along U.S. 431 about 4 o’clock on Monday afternoon. “He observed her texting and driving,” Headland Police Chief Mark Jones told WTVY.

After a roadside investigation, Roberts was charged with Possession of Marijuana Second Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

She also faces one count of having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle. Jones said a sobriety test that showed Roberts below the legal limit of intoxication.

Geneva City Schools Superintendent Ron Snell has placed Roberts on administrative leave, pending an investigation.

Roberts is in her first school year at Geneva High School. Last year, she served as a Dothan High School assistant principal.
