Tomorrow marks nine years since Shanna Peoples disappearance
Shanna Peoples went missing on September 8, 2011
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Tomorrow marks nine years since Shanna Peoples went missing in Geneva. She was only 19 years old when she went missing on September 8, 2011.
Peoples was last seen on Morris Street, she was on her way to her parents’ house and never arrived. Peoples lived with her boyfriend at the time, but he was out of town the weekend she went missing.
Captain Michael McDuffie said any time they get new leads they chase them down, in hopes of finding Peoples. Almost a decade later, the case is being worked every day. Captain McDuffie said Chief Tony Clemmons was very involved in the investigation at the time and remains so today.
They have received help from other local agencies as well as state and federal investigators. This is still an open case.
“You never know, any day something new may pop us,” Captain McDuffie said. “We kind of take these cases personal, we want to find these individuals so anything that they could do to help we would sure be thankful for it.”
This November peoples would be 28 years old.
Captain McDuffie said any day something new can come up and if anyone has any information regarding this case to please contact them.
