Disaster Certification Class offered for Wiregrass

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Houston County VOAD-Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster is offering a chance for those interested in helping to get prepared before a disaster happens.

The free virtual training will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, to begin at 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. The class will be taught by Derrick Lea, Director for the Seventh-Day Adventist Community Services (ACS) Disaster Response for the North American Division.

This training will give those interested in helping after a disaster practical ways to help the community. Upon completion of all classes, each participant will receive a Disaster Preparedness Certification Certificate.

The deadline to register is September 16 and is done online at the Houston County VOAD website

This program is a collaborative effort among the following agencies: Houston County VOAD- Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Adventist Community Services (ACS), The Harbor, SEACH- Southeast Alabama Coalition for the Homeless, Red Cross, Wiregrass 211, Gulf States Conference of Seventh-day Adventist and the Salvation Army.
