Adams, Hayes headed to runoff in Geneva mayor’s race

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - David Hayes and Greg Adams will meet in a runoff on October 6 to determine who will be the next mayor of Geneva.

Hayes, a local businessman, finished with the highest vote total on the evening followed by Adams and John Hughes. Adams is a former councilman while Hughes is currently serving on the council.

Incumbents Rufus Lee, Freddy McCoy and Ryan Tidwell all won their council races easily.

Political newcomer Kim Wesley Gillespie defeated former Geneva County District Judge Charlie Fleming for the district three council seat.

In district six, Mike Fountain defeated Hobie Dixon and Joe Buchinsky.

The district seven race is headed to a runoff. Mike Bryan finished with 71 votes followed by Daniel Coleman with 70 and Todd Mote with 69.

Rich Bixby ran unopposed for the district five seat on the council.
