Four Mayoral candidates hoping to be the change for the City of Ozark
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Four men want to help determine the City of Ozark direction for the next four years. Bob Bunting, Mark Blankenship, Dion Robison and Chaddwick Crews.
Bunting is running is seeking his re-election for his fifth term in office. His focus is to keep growing the town of Ozark.
Some projects are already underway.
“Dollar General is coming got a call yesterday that they will be breaking ground next week we got the plans in yesterday for Firehouse Subs i hope by the end of the week we will have those totally reviewed so that they can start their construction of Firehouse Subs,” said Bob Bunting - Ozark Mayor.
However Bunting believes industrial growth cannot happen without community growth.
Mark Blankenship has served the past seven years as Chairman of the Dale County Commission.
Working closely with the city he believes it is time to give someone else a chance to bring along change to the community.
As population continues to decline in Ozark, Blankenship plans to create more living to keep citizens in the city of Ozark plus the opportunity to bring more into the area.
“We’ve got to bring jobs and industry here but we have to do some key basic things we’ve got to improve our relationships here we have to build some houses here we’ve got to build some apartments here that’s the thing we’ve been left out over the years our young professionals here in town are having to go to other cities to rent apartments and to buy houses because we just don’t have them available here,” said Mark Blankenship - Ozark Mayoral Candidate.
Chaddwick Crews has been a barber shop owner in Ozark for the past 20 years.
While working within the community he says the needs for industry is something he wants to bring to the city.
His eyes are on a few vacant factories. Crews says with our neighbors being the home of aviation, this will prioritize what to fill those with.
“W would like to bring some kind of parts distribution something manufacturing parts some kind of cost efficient parts that maybe other places in the united states will buy from us that we can do less cost efficient maybe and make Ozark be what it is supposed to be since day one,” said Chaddwick Crews - Ozark Mayoral Candidate.
Dion Robinson also wants to lead Ozark. After moving to Ozark, Robinson knew there was a lot he could improve within the community, but he wants the help of the people.
“We need to improve schools I hear we need jobs i hear streets need to be worked on we need to fill some of these vacant houses the main thing I hear is we need things for our children,” said Dion Robinson - Ozark Mayoral Candidate.
His list focuses on what ideas community members have provided him.
Polls will be open from 7am until 7pm on Tuesday August 25th.
