4WARN: Tropical Update
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - We have tropical storm Laura now in the eastern Caribbean. Over the weekend it will impact the Caribbean islands, before making its way into the Gulf of Mexico by the start of next week.
Traveling westward at 15 mph, the storm is expected to reach the souther/eastern Florida coastlines by Monday afternoon. Once it arrives in the Gulf of Mexico, it is very likely that it will become a hurricane since ocean water are warm enough for strengthening.
We are within the cone of arrival. Latest forecast trends estimate the arrival of Laura to be near the Florida panhandle by Wednesday morning.
