DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - As schools made the decision to move to online learning this year, internet access became a major concern.

Now students who are apart of the National School Lunch Program can receive free internet.

“It will be different types of internet it depends on the area in which the parents live in some cases they will be given many options in other cases they will be given very few options,” said David Sewell - Houston County Superintendent

Letters with vouchers will be sent out to families who participate in free or reduced lunch program

Along with a list of providers and the options that are available should arrive in the next few weeks.

“It is not a scam the parents will not be billed all they have to do is follow the instructions and they will receive free internet,” said Sewell.

If a family is not apart of the lunch program and feel as though they now qualify they are encouraged to sign-up.

Traditional students who meet the criteria are also encouraged to take part free internet.

If you don’t receive the letter you should contact your local school. The voucher will be good until the end of December.
