ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) --

Bill Baker has called Enterprise, Alabama home for the last 21 years.

He currently works at Navigator International in Enterprise, but now he is looking for a new job title as Enterprise's next mayor.

"My job at this company is to manage government contracts, to write proposals and that's what I bring to the city of Enterprise is that ability to go out and grow the city with a new business and better paying jobs," Baker said.

If elected, he plans to bring more business to Enterprise building off the industry that is already in the City of Progress.

"Work together side-by-side with those businesses to grow their footprint and bring those second and third tier suppliers that they need here to the city of Enterprise which brings good jobs," Baker added.

Baker also believes much more business is still to be discovered these jobs could be filled from connections with Fort Rucker.

“We’ve got great talent that’s brought here with [Army] spouses,” Baker added. “They come here with college degrees and skill sets and licenses, but we don’t have the market here to hire them.”

For Baker, it is not all about just bringing in new jobs.

“I want to make Enterprise a destination,” Baker continued. “Parks and Recreation are a huge huge advantage to the city of Enterprise.”

An advantage that could make a lasting impact.

“If we get people to come here and visit, they’re going to want to stay,” Baker finished. “I’m an example of that.”
