DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - The tropics are really starting to rev up. With multiple waves in the far Atlantic. Our attention to each one remains high.

The first wave remains in the far souther Caribbean. Where it is gaining some speed as it continues to travel westward at about 20 mph. It is expected to enter the Caribbean by mid-week. Once it reaches that location, it will enter an environment that will lead to a possible strengthening since upper air patterns will be in favor of tropical set-ups. We will be monitoring this system closely.

Our next one is in the further Atlantic where it is developing quickly. It is also moving westward at about 20 mph and will likely take the same route as the first tropical wave. As it approaches the far eastern Caribbean islands, atmospheric forces will likely cause the formation of a broad area of low pressure, which can lead to further development. This will also require close monitoring.

Reminder, we are still a few weeks away from peak period of tropical activity. Keep reviewing your hurricane safety plan, evacuation routes, essential emergency kits, etc.
