DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -
As the anticipation builds for high school football games, many Wiregrass schools are making changes to to keep their fans in the stands safe.
Houston County Schools have announced they will only allow fifty percent capacity into stadiums.
This comes after the AHSAA and the ADPH sent out a release regarding this years football season along with social distancing. Saying “schools are strongly encouraged to establish and follow policies for limiting event attendance in order to comply.”
Houston County Schools will not allow visiting team bands to attend games and all games will be first come, first serve.
“Because as I said earlier those numbers are figured into the capacity and for some of our stadiums that are not quite that big, if they had a large band that would be a lot of parents that couldn’t get to see their children play,” Houston County Schools superintendent, David Sewell said.
Ticket sales for any Houston County School’s football game will be split fifty/fifty, for the home and visiting stands.
