Wiregrass Two-A-Days: Daleville Warhawks
DALEVILLE, Ala. (WTVY) - The Daleville Warhawks had quite the impressive 2019 season and earned some national recognition thanks to running back Jalen White. Setting state records and leading the nation in rushing, but now he’s playing on Saturday’s at Georgia Southern, so what’s the plan this year?
Head coach Desmond Lett says the Warhawks will use a running back by committee approach in hopes of replicating the success they saw running the ball last season.
New teams await the Warhakws this season as they make the jump to Class 3A Region 2, but Daleville is showing no signs of backing down to the challenge.
“Moving into the region we are moving into now, I feel like it’s just as competitive, if not a little more,” said Lett. “We actually played Wicksburg last year so we are familiar with what they do. I actually went and watched Slocomb play a time or two last year. Moving up, 2A-3A, it don’t matter really. I feel like they put their pants on like us, one leg at a time. We’re going to go out on the field and compete with whoever shows up.”
The Warhawks will face the Elba Tigers to open the 2020 season.
