HEADLAND, Ala. (WTVY) - Toby Greene makes another stop in the Wiregrass. After one year at Florala High School, Greene is taking over the reins of the Headland Rams program for the 2020 season.

The Rams saw improvement in 2018 with the programs first 10-win season since 1988, but took a slight step back last season finishing the year 4-6.

Greene says the players have adjusted well to his coaching style and he’s hoping they can continue the momentum from the last few seasons as they make the move up to Class 5A.

“They won ten games two years ago so they are used to winning,” said Greene. “Won a handful of games last year. Could have won a few more. Lost some close ones. Had some injuries. We’re just preaching to those kids to finish and win those close games. That’s the difference in winning seven or eight games instead of four or five games. Just keep preaching that to the kids of winning the close games. That’s the difference in good and bad seasons. We’re going to keep preaching that toughness and discipline to get over that hump and build off what’s there.”

The Rams will open the season against the Abbeville Yellow Jackets.
