Back in Dothan, this man is charged with killing movie maker

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -A man charged with killing a low budget movie producer has been brought to Dothan for trial.

50-year old Marcus Shabbass Hubbard is charged with shooting Rodney Caliste. That shooting happened last October at Caliste's home on Woodham Road.

The two men had been long time acquaintances.

While police have not disclosed a possible motive, they did find items in that home consistent with illegal drug distribution, sources told WTVY.

Douglasville, Georgia police say they discovered illegal narcotics in Hubbard's home when they searched it following his arrest in January.

Hubbard is held in the Houston County Jail without bond.

Casliste is best known as executive producer of “Bring Out the Lady,” a 2016 fictional murder mystery set in Atlanta.
